35 years of Flautando Cologne – we would like to celebrate our stage anniversary on 9 May 2026 with a grand birthday concert together with our audience at the Lutherkirche in Cologne's Südstadt district! At 11 a.m., we invite you to a festive concert followed by a reception – to remember, marvel and celebrate together. For 35 years, Flautando Cologne has stood for joy of playing, diversity of sound and curious music-making. Our anniversary programme looks back on special moments in our ensemble's history – and at the same time shows where our musical journey is taking us. One highlight is our cross-genre musical theatre piece ‘Jack & Jill’, created thanks to the Neustart Kultur ensemble grant from the German Music Council. With texts by psychiatrist Ronald D. Laing and in creative collaboration with Heikko Deutschmann (acting) and Albrecht Maurer (music), it has developed into a fascinating, moving stage work. A second focus is our programme ‘Light and Darkness’, together with Holger Schäfer – harpist, singer and storyteller. Words and music interweave here in a poetic search for clues to the mystery between darkness and light. The concert will be hosted by Dieter Schiffer, chief spokesperson for WDR, who will look back on 35 years of ensemble history with us in a humorous and personal discussion. Torsten Müller will also be joining us as a musical companion on drums and percussion – a familiar and inspiring accompanist.
